Larrestine McKanders-Trimm

Larrestine was born Jun 15, 1943 in Jackson, Mississippi to Addye Nell (Norwood) McKanders and Julius Aaron McKanders. Larrestine confessed to Christ at an early age at Second Baptist Church in Inkster, Michigan. She graduated from Inkster High School and was awarded a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Michigan State Unitversity (MSU.) While attending MSU she became a member and President of the MSU chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. After graduating from college Larrestine worked for the State of Michigan for over 25 years. During her career and after retirement she independently published articles in magazines and other publications.

Larrestine was married to Lawrence N. Trimm from 1971 to 1984. Three children were born to this union: David Lawrence, Ian Christiann and Justin Larren. Larrestine loved her children and family. She was an avid reader and she loved gardening and cooking.

Larrestine is preceded in beath by her mother, Addye Nell McKanders-Smith, her father, Rev. Julius Aaron McKanders I, he brother Rev. Julius Aaron McKanders II, and her brother Eddie Thornton Smith.

Precious and everlasting memories will live in the hearts of those who knew and loved Larrestine as a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Celebrating her homegoing are her beloved children, David Trimm of Phoenix, Arizona; Ian Trimm of Lansing, Michigan; and Justin Trimm of Lansing, Michigan; her beloved grandchildren, Anyssa and Elijah Trimm of Lansing, Michigan; her beloved siblings, Geralyn McKanders-Neal (Husband Clarence) of Goodyear, Arizona; Kenneth A. McKanders (wife Carolyn) of Litchfield Park, Arizona; Landers McKanders of Romulus, Michigan; Brenda McKanders-Greene of Centerline, Michigan; and Donna McKanders of Atlanta, Georgia. She is also survived by her beloved sister-in-law’s; Cherlyn McKanders (wife of Julius – deceased) of Washington Township, Michigan; Pamela Smith (wife of Eddie – deceased) of Dallas, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Larrestine, thanks for being special in touching our lives with a love that still remains. Your strong and gentle way will be missed by all. For you, the rain has stopped. The sun is out. Be warm in it, until we see you again.

A celebration of Larrestine’s life will be held at a later date. The family is grateful for your understanding. We appreciate your prayers and messaged of sympathy.
