Frankie A. McCray, 71, of Phoenix, AZ passed away in his home unexpectedly in his sleep on January 31, 2016. He was born November 2, 1944 in Seagraves, TX to the late Scott and Veneta McCray who raised him with his surviving sisters Brenda Locke of Greenriver, WY and Sharion Patterson of Carlsbad, NM.
He served in the US Navy from 1961-1967 and worked as a Jet Mechanic and enjoyed being in the color guard. He later worked in the oil field for over 25 years and was in the transportation industry at Swift for 17yrs. He retired in 2004 and tried to continue his love of golf and bowling. He enjoyed every opportunity that he had to be with his grandchildren that he was so extremely proud of.
Recently Frankie had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. Fortunately it hadn’t debilitated him to the point where he was in a wheelchair but it sure had slowed him down. None of us had any clue that his death was approaching so soon.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years of marriage Patricia Jean and her loving mom Alleen Sherrill. He is also survived by his son and daughter-n- law Scott A and Deborah McCray and their three boys, Austin, Collin, and Ryan, as well as his daughter and son-n-law Jeannie and Don Fox and their four children Victoria, Tabitha, Joshua and Jimmy along with his first great grandson Gabriel. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Friday, February 5, 2016 at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S Litchfield Road, Goodyear, AZ. A reception will follow the service.
