Joan Sadler, 79, of Goodyear, AZ died February 26, 2014 at home. She was born April 13, 1934 in Chicago, IL to Arthur and Marie Grill. Mom/Joan/TuTu was an accomplished homemaker and mother. She was a very vibrant woman with an exuberant zest for life. She loved life, people, and art, and anything colorful! Born on the south side of Chicago, she had heart and strength. Growing up in the "back of a delicatessen" in the Back-of-the-Yards neighborhood in Chicago, as well as in Palos Heights, Illinois, she learned how to make friends with people from all walks of life - city or country. Spending many of her childhood days in Bloomer, Wisconsin at the family farm, she was a true Midwesterner at heart. But she also fell in love with the Southwest too! Joan had a wonderful smile, laugh, and listening ear to all she loved, and will be dearly missed by family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters Dawn Sadler, Gaye Johnson; son Scott and Guy Sadler; sister Pam Hopkins; brother Glen Grill; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Richard Sadler, and her parents Art and Marie Grill. A visitation will be held from 9am to 10am on Sunday, March 2nd at Thompson Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will follow at 10am. Burial will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois. The family suggests donations be made in her memory to The American Diabetes Association, phone number 1-800-DIABETES or online at http://www.diabetes.org/donate. Condolences can be sent to www.thompsonfuneralchapel.com.
