Grover Eugene Lumbard, age 89 of Goodyear, AZ, devoted father, grandfather(Grampa Groove), uncle, Groovy Grove to his many friends, and most beloved husband died June 7, 2018. He was born September 7, 1928 in Dawson, NM to Charles and Pearl Thornbury Lumbard.
Grover lived in the Seattle area from 1940 - 2004. He married his beloved wife Catherine Schumacher on Mar 29, 1980 in Seattle, WA. He and Cathy started their married life in Burien, WA. They moved to Arizona where he started his second career as a retiree, but he never stopped living, loving, giving and letting everyone he met know how special they were and how their dreams could come true if they were true to themselves.
He has left his footprints in so many places and hearts: in his work community at P & G Associates, today known as Linc Sales, where his sons are carrying on the legacy of his hard work, in the community of St. Francis of Assisi, Burien, WA; and Our Lady of Guadalupe Monastery, Phoenix, AZ; and in his last home community of PebbleCreek and the Pickle Ball Club he founded in 2007 with his “bestest bud” LouAnn Ashburn. They started with 2 and grew to about 1500 members. His dream came true because he just knew his dream was meant to be. What a happy & fun life! Remember to laugh always.
Grover is survived by his beloved wife Cathy; sister, Darlene Weir Coshow(Jim); and his six beautiful children from first marriage to Jeannine, Steve Lumbard (Callene), Lola Lumbard Leen, Paula Lumbard (Susan Rennie), Dirk Lumbard (Anderson Ferrell), Doug Lumbard (Darlene), Jeanne Lumbard Federovitch (Eric); seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren (1 just a week old) and 1 more on the way; his extended family, brother-in-law, Robert Schumacher (Erika); and his beautiful nieces, Patti Lumbard Totten (Paul), Cheryl Lumbard Johnson (Rick).
