Elijah Lucas Jr., 81, of Goodyear, AZ died July 18, 2012 at West Valley Hospital. He was born January 15, 1931 in Turrell, AR to Elijah Sr. and Jimie Write Lucas. He was an assembler for John Deere in East Moline, IL and a member of local 865 UAW. He moved to Arizona November of 2010.
Mr. Lucas is survived by his wife Ruth Lucas; 4 daughters, Gloria Lucas Fentress, Sherry Lucas Sibels, Mella Lucas Tillman, Vickie Lucas Davis, and 4 sons Gordon, Kevin, Carlis and Louis Lucas; 29 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sons Elijah Lucas III and Stanly Eugene Lucas.
There will be two services to celebrate Mr. Lucas’ life. The first is a visitation and service Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Rd., Goodyear, AZ 85338. The service in Illinois will take place at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home in Rock Island on Saturday, July 28, 2012 from 1-4:00pm.
