Brian was raised in Lexington, KY., attended and graduated from Bryan Station High School and the University of Kentucky with a degree in Communications.
Brian began his accomplished military career when he enlisted in the Air Force in July of 1994. He earned numerous awards and completed many special schools while in the Air Force. He first became a Special Operations Combat Controller, and was eventually honored to be named the USAF Combat Controller of the year. In 2002, Brian commissioned as an officer. He completed pilot training and began his career as an F-16 pilot, later becoming a F-35 pilot. In 2020, Brian retired from the Air Force. He continued his passion by instructing incoming F-35 pilots at Luke Air Force base.
In his free time, Brian had many hobbies and interests including listening to and playing music with his kids, cooking, watching sports (especially University of Kentucky basketball and football), and watching Marvel movies with his family. He also loved the great outdoors.
Along with his parents he is survived by three children, Kiara Crum, McKenna Crum and Kael Crum and two brothers, Corey (Ivy) Crum and Col Kaveri (Courtnee) Crum and a Grandmother, Irene Euster. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends.
Brian loved his God, his family, and his country. His memory will live on in our hearts until we meet again.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Redeemer Community Church, 371 Hill N Dale Drive, Lexington, KY at 4:00 p.m. on July 8, 2023. All friends and family are invited. A private military funeral is being planned in Jackson, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, the families suggest donations be made to Tunnel to Towers, Wounded Warriors, or Fisher House.
