Jamie Christopher Bones

On Sunday March 25, 2018, Jamie Christopher Bones, 45, of Litchfield Park, Arizona, surrendered his body to the terrible savage monster called cancer. While the cancer may have taken his body, his soul will live on forever in the hearts of Allison, his wife of eighteen years and Travis, his three-year-old son, as well as a beloved circle of family and friends.

Born in Norwalk, California as the first son of Lawrence A. (Larry) Bones, Jr. and Kay Marie Bones, Jamie was an intelligent, inquisitive and sensitive child. He carried these qualities throughout his life and served as a role model to his younger brothers Ryan and William (Bill). Family and friends sought his knowledge and advice, for Jamie never seemed intimidating or overbearing in his intellect. He had a broad and vast knowledge of travel, history, geography, culture, the gaming industry and politics. He also possessed a strong moral compass, striving to do that which may not have always been easy, but always right.

Jamie was preceded in death by his children, twins Shelby Jayne and Dalton Joseph; father-in-law, Joseph D'Ambrosio; paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather. Survived by his wife, son, parents and brothers, he also leaves behind his adoring grandmother Laraine Wane; sisters-in-law Violet (Ryan) and Adrienne (William); mother-in-law Nancy D'Ambrosio; half-sisters, Nataly and Roxanne Bones; aunts, uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, treasured friends and colleagues.

Diagnosed with cancer in December 2014, Jamie endured with a stoic dignity, quiet strength and enduring optimism. During the next 3 years, Jamie courageously fought this battle. Despite the physical toll the disease took, Jamie continued to work, spend time with family and friends, travel and be a parent-coach for Travis’ T-ball team last fall. Even with the most recent recurrence, Jamie shared that he planned to invest his all, in hopes of buying another few years with his precious son and beloved wife.

Jamie received a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Arizona State University and a Master’s of Business Administration from American Military University. He spent his career in financial services, including positions at Chase, Charles Schwab, the federal government, and most recently, as a Bank Examiner at Wells Fargo. While at Schwab, he tested early for his Series 7 and Series 63 financial licenses. Not only did he pass both on the first try, he received a score of 90% on the Series 7 exam, causing his managers to request Jamie tutor others in his training class.

Sports were another passion of Jamie’s. Some of his fondest memories include attending the 1999 Arizona Cardinals playoff victory against his wife’s Dallas Cowboys (it was early in the relationship, so she let him enjoy the win), and the 2008 Arizona Cardinals NFC Championship victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, which he attended with his brother Bill. For Jamie, sporting events allowed him to enjoy the camaraderie in the stands as well as the action on the field.

Since his death, stories have poured in from near and far about Jamie and what he meant to others. While it is currently a great comfort to his widow to hear these stories, it will be a living testimony for his son to gain a deep understanding of his father’s impact in this world. Cancer may have prevailed over his physical body, but it will never, ever steal his spirit, legacy or renewed vigor with his Catholic faith.

A memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, April 20, 2018 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 539 E La Pasada Blvd, Goodyear, AZ 85338. Father Tom Eckert, a treasured family friend, will preside. Donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or The Voice of the Martyrs.
