Burl Miner – (79), Retired General Manager of Hill County Electric, Triangle Telephone and Central Montana Communications, passed away on May 29, 2014 at a Glendale, AZ hospital after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Burl was a self-made, admirable and very accomplished man, who modestly insisted we not tell his life story, but only speak of his love of family in his obituary. He wrote so many heart-felt expressions in his last hours, most of them telling how grateful he was to be surrounded by his family and having them with him at the time of his passing. The love and pride and joy of his life were his family. In his work, he always said he worked with some of the greatest people you would ever want to meet. He felt so good about being an officer and founder and board member of some of the finest organizations in the state of Montana. Burl was born to George and Adell Miner on August 17, 1934 in Havre, MT. He was preceded in death by his parents, his younger brother Claude Miner, and his infant grandson. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of nearly 59 years, Nora Darlington Miner – who he married in Havre, MT on June 19, 1955, and his two children – daughter Jacqueline Miner Bean (and husband Brad) and son Kevin Miner (and wife Brenda); his two granddaughters, Skye Miner (doctoral student at McGill University in Montreal, Canada) and Samantha Miner (undergrad student at U of M, MT Tech in Butte, MT). Other survivors include his brother Gary Miner (wife Vendy) of Rock Springs, WY; Sister-in-law Marilyn Miner of Gt. Falls, MT; Sister-in-law Mary Marty of Great Falls, MT; Brothers-in-law Kenny (Darlene) Darlington and Gary (Rose) Darlington of Big Sandy, MT.; along with many nieces and nephews. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to: National Jewish Health (the leading respiratory hospital in the nation and a Four-Star Charity). Please mark your gift for: Research to help us find treatments and a cure for pulmonary fibrosis. By mail to: National Jewish Health, PO Box 17169, Denver, CO 80217-0169; Or Online: www.nationaljewish.org (Donate/Research); Condolences can be sent to www.ThompsonFuneralChapel.com .
