Char Broadbent

Charme “Char” Ann Broadbent of Goodyear, AZ, passed peacefully on June 25, 2023 in Goodyear, AZ. Char was born to Robert “Bob” and Elizabeth “Betty” (née Guerin) Strandt on June 14, 1945 in Green Bay, WI. She lived in the West Valley for 50 years.

Char was an adventurous, strong, and talented woman. She embraced life with passion, and deeply loved her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and a pillar of strength for all who knew her. Her memory is a blessing, and she will be eternally loved and missed by everyone.

Char worked as an RN for 10 years, then as a Custom Jeweler, Exotic Avian Breeder and Bartender (Mixologist). For years she voluntarily served as Treasurer at the American Legion Post 61 in Avondale. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Al, nature, dancing, theater, movies, ceramics, and knitting.

She is survived by her 3 children, Steven (Carlynne), Rex (Tammy) and Todd; 9 grandchildren, Carl (Brandee), Corrina, Damien (Kaylynn), Gavin (Lexi), Amberlyn (Bryan), Seth, Hollie (Tay), Crissy Jo and CJ; 11 great-grandchildren, Alexis (Jose), Autumn (Travis), Steven, Tanner, Gage, Jason, Tarran, Gage, Lucy and Eevy; 6 great-great- grandchildren, Mondo, Sabrina, Alexa, Corbin, Kali and Alex; brother, Terry (Christine) Strandt; and sister, Susan Burnett. She is preceded by her parents, husband, grandchild Ethan, and great-grandchild Zoe.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service and Visitation at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Road, Goodyear, AZ on July 27, 2023; 6:00 pm to 9 pm (Service at 6:30 pm). In lieu of flowers donations to honor her may be made to Hospice of the Valley.
