Barbara Ann Hayton was born on August 26, 1934 in East Orange, New Jersey. She attended East Orange High School and Essex County Vocational School. She graduated from Essex’s dental program and became a Dental Assistant working for Dr. Wester and later working for Dr. Kahn. While briefly married, Barbara gave birth to her son Louis W. Osborn, then became a stay at home mom so she could focus on raising her son. It was during this time her little brothers introduced her to their favorite ice cream man, Bruce Hayton. That is when life truly began for her and her son. Barbara and Bruce were married November 19, 1960. They moved out of the city and down to South Toms River, New Jersey where Barbara went to work for Ocean Spray in the cranberry bogs. She later decided to try her hand at microfiche, editing medical records. Barbara believed in the Lord and was a devoted member of the First Nazarene Church of Toms River, New Jersey. In 1999 Barbara and Bruce relocated to Arizona to be closer to her son, his wife, and their two grandchildren. She joined the West Valley Family Church in Glendale, Arizona and was a part of their Praise Team for many years.
Barbara was very talented and artistic. She sang, played the organ, and created many beautiful pieces of art. She loved to try new things. She tried cake decorating, glass cutting, and belly dancing. Barbara loved Hawaii, Tom Selleck, and all things blingy. She was proud of her Swedish heritage and family meant everything to her. Barbara cared deeply and gave selflessly. She will be lovingly remembered by all those who knew her.
Barbara Ann is survived by her husband, Bruce G. Hayton; her son, Louis W. Osborn and his wife, Deborah; her brother, William Giersch and his wife, Carol; her two grandchildren, Lou Osborn as well as Jennifer Choate and her husband, Joseph; along with many nieces and nephews.
