Born and raised to a successful Glendale farm family. She was valedictorian at Dysart Elementary and Dysart High School, graduated with honors at ASU.
Married to David for 47 years, in 1970, Carol Ann started their married life at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii as a Navy wife. She began her retail career at the Navy Exchange. Upon completing David’s tour of duty, they returned to Goodyear where Carol Ann continued her retail career as a buyer for Goldwater’s Broadway, and Macys Department Stores. After her successful retail career, their son Brian was born.
She volunteered to read at Brian’s class at Litchfield Elementary School, which lead to full time job at the Litchfield School District providing science kits for 10,000 students. Her volunteer work led to years of giving back to her community. She was active in Avondale United Methodist Church, Boys Scouts, Estrella Rotary Club, and Dysart High School Scholarships Committee.
She had the joy of becoming a grandmother to a beautiful baby girl named Kinsley Harbushka.
Her loves of life were her family, church, hot air ballooning, camping, riding her ATV, gardening, traveling, caring for animals, a certified scuba diver, and flying as a licensed private pilot.
Carol Ann is survived by her husband, David of 47 years, son Brian, and granddaughter Kinsley Harbushka, sisters Patty Dehaan, Debbie Deal, and brother, Doug Baker.
Memorial Services will be held on January 12, 2018 at 11:00 am at Avondale United Methodist Church, 104 W. Western Ave, Avondale, AZ 85323.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Avondale United Methodist Church, and the American Cancer Society. Condolences for the family may be left at www.ThompsonFuneralChapel.com.
