He was born in Henderson, Tennessee on December 16, 1936 to Luke and Lucille Stanfill and married his high school sweetheart, Wanda on November 27, 1956. Gene and Wanda had four children he cherished and was always there for.
Known as the Candy Man, Gene's pockets were always full of candy to share. He had a positive can-do-attitude and a giver’s heart, helping in many ways throughout the community. He served the Lord's Supper to shut-ins, delivered food boxes with Big Brothers on Christmas Eve morning, was a founding member of the Madison High School Football Booster Club, and supported many other individuals and organizations. He enjoyed fishing with his buddies, tinkering with cars, roaming through salvage yards and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Terry Stanfill who he was married to for 66 years and his beloved son, Terry Stanfill.
He is survived by his children, Cindi (Bo) Jones, Steve (Connie) Stanfill and Elise Stanfill; grandchildren Natalie (Jeremy) Cannon, Zack (Brandy) Jones, Brandon (Bobbie) Jones, Nick Jones, Elizabeth Jones, Hank (Jessica) Stanfill, Jacob (Katherine) Stanfill, Chance (Jessy) Stanfill, Jeremy (Emily) Cook, Ashley Cook, Kristin Douglas, Kassie Stanfill (Brianna Hesson), Piper Bilbrey, and blessed with many precious great-grandchildren.
Gene will be missed but he leaves us with wonderful cherished memories.
A private service will be held for the family.
