Jack was born Sunday, December 16, 1956 in San Diego, California. He was preceded in death by his best friend and amazing wife of forty five years, Janet Lee. He was also preceded by Bobby McMurtry (father), Lisa McMurtry (sister), and Jim McMurtry (brother). He is survived by his mother, Freda McMurtry; his children Kristi (Daniel) Sanders, Katie (William) McMahan, Taylor (Mattie) McMurtry; and his grandchildren, Ashlyn Sanders, Carter Sanders, Caden McMahan, Chase McMahan, and Elaine "Ellie" Joy McMurtry and many other beloved extended family and friends.
Jack was devoted to his family and friends. He was kind-hearted, dedicated, hard working, and always put the needs of his family and others ahead of his own. Jack is known for his compassionate nature, giving spirit, and willingness to better the lives of those around him. As a follower of Christ in his home, church, and everyday life, his caring personality brought joy to everyone he encountered. He also touched the lives of many throughout his years as a mentor to those in the workplace. He will be dearly missed, though his memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those who were honored to have the privilege of knowing him.
To celebrate Jack's life, a visitation will be held at Parkway Baptist Church, 505 Cunniff Pkwy, Goodlettsville, Tennessee on Monday, November 11, 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Tuesday, November 12, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM with a Chapel funeral service to follow, with Rev. Ken Castleberry officiating. A private interment will be held at a later date at the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Goodlettsville, Tennessee.
