Maria Tomasa Lerma, age 73, of Gonzales, Texas passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at De Tar Hospital in Victoria. Maria was a native of Palau Coahuila, Mexico and was a homemaker. Maria loved to cook, watch TV, talk on the phone, and especially enjoyed time with her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gonzales, with burial to follow at Gonzales Memorial Park in Gonzales. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Buffington Funeral Home in Gonzales.
Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Guillermo Lerma, parents, Feliciano and Rosa Alva, sons, Jesse Lerma, and Armando Lerma, sisters, Sabina Alva, and Berta Alva.
Maria is survived by her sons Juan Lerma, Willie Lerma and wife "Dulce", James Lerma and wife Heather all of Gonzales, daughters, Lisa Suarez and husband Jose, Maria Ramirez and husband Ray, Sandra Flores and husband Valentine, Sonja Ramirez and husband Hilario, Martha Jiminez and husband Jose all of Gonzales, brothers, Sidencio Alva and wife Alicia of Big Spring, TX., Louis Alva and wife Gloria, and Jose Alva and wife Rosa both of Gonzales, sisters, Maria Cantu of Gonzales, Carmela Alva and husband Gilbert Colunga of Palau Coahuila, Mexico, brothers-in-law, Jesus Salazar, and Presirio Perez, twenty-five grandchildren, and seventeen great grandchildren.
Maria will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
