She grew up in Gonzales, Texas, where she attended and graduated from Gonzales High School and lived all her life. She was the mother of four children. She was trained as a life skills technician and worked at Warm Springs Hospital. She loved to work in her garden and loved the outdoors. She also loved to play with her grandchildren and to cook. She could often be found dancing while cooking in her kitchen. She was kind, funny, happy and entertaining. She was the life of the party and loved to make people laugh. She was one of the most generous and giving people you would meet.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Julia Longoria Rodriguez, her father, Luciano Rodriguez,daughter, Teresa Tijerina, brother Emilo Rodriguez, sisters Esther DeLaCruz and Hope Sourbeck.
She is survived by her sisters Janie Hastings, Carmen Gutierrez; brothers Luciano Rodriguez, Jr., Guadalupe Rodriguez, and Richard Rodriguez; daughter Lupe Tijerina; sons Snake Rozelle and Nestor L. Tijerina; granddaughters Gracie Tijerina, Jasmine Cantu; and grandson Jessie Cantu, and her 6 great-grandchildren, with one on the way. Plus numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Lupe’s life will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 10 am. Visitation will be 9 am, Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She will be laid to rest at Saint James Catholic Cemetery.
