Violet B. Parent

Violet Bercegeay Parent passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at age 94. She was a native of Gonzales, La, and a long-time resident of St. Amant, La. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant, La. Violet was also a long-time member of the Gonzales VFW Auxillary. Violet was a feisty woman who did not have a problem speaking her mind, much to the dismay of some. However, she always put her family first before herself and her own needs, despite what some may have thought. She took great pleasure and enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed making quilts for other people. Violet was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, A.J. “Pope” Parent; her parents, Euclide, and Leonie Decoteau Bercegeay; brothers, Welman (Corinne), Uger (Joan), and Lionel (Marie) Bercegeay. She is survived by her son, Terry Parent, daughter, Carolyn “Peanut” Bourgeois, and son Craig Parent, daughter-in-law, Sherri Parent; grandchildren, Elizabeth, David, Sarah, Michelle (Greg), Trey (Holly), Derek (Laura), Dexter (Karlie), Mindy, Trindy (Joey), and Aime; great-grandchildren, Eli, Mikel (Tre), Hannah, Jaxon, Scott, Hunter, Ethan, Andy, Paxstyn, Layton, Kandonn, Kourtlyn, Kashlyn, Colton, Zoe, Katelyn, and Cheyenne. Services will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant, La. on Saturday, September 28, 2024. Visitation will be from 9 am to 11 am. The funeral mass will begin at 11 am with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Following the burial, a reception will be held in the church parish center for family and friends. Pallbearers will be David Parent, Elizabeth Parent, Dexter Parent, Joey Garcia, Scott Brogan, and Ricky Dupuy. A very special Thank you goes to St. Joseph Hospice and the Carpenter House in Baton Rouge for their excellent and compassionate care for Violet.
