Valmond “VJ” Joseph St. Amant passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022 at the age of 88. He was a native of Prairieville, LA and resident of St. Amant, LA. He served in the Army Reserve as well as well as the National Guard. He received a master’s degree in education and was a teacher for 30 years. He is survived by his children, Jay St. Amant (Lisa), Tyler St. Amant (Kyara), Danielle Wooley (Kirby), Monte St. Amant (Beth), Manny Mayers (Cindy), Yvonne Thomas (Joey), Carmelita Ferguson, and Gary Mayers (Tracie); grandchildren, Joseph and Grace St. Amant, Kaitlyn and Thad Wooley, Kelly Hensley (Luke), Joshua, Jessica, and Joseph Mayers, Ian and Lauren Ferguson, Cole and Matthew Mayers, and Noah and Jonah Thomas; sister, Lucille Dunigan (Willard) and sister in law, Kernan St. Amant. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara St. Amant, and second wife, Rosa St. Amant, parents, Valmond Joseph St. Amant and Rita Anderson St. Amant; and his brother, Hugh St. Amant. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at New River Baptist Church from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. to be followed by a service beginning promptly at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at New River Baptist Church Cemetery. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Tyler St. Amant, Joseph St. Amant, Monte St. Amant, Jeff Rogers, Randall Dunigan, Rev. Daryl Dunigan, Willard Dunigan and Thad Wooley.
