Paul Anthony Matherne passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at the age of 68. He was a native of Bridge City, LA and a resident of Prairieville, LA. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a district chairman with Ducks Unlimited and a member of East Ascension Ducks Unlimited. He also loved to cook. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Griffice Matherne; children, Raegan Persons, Ashley Matherne, Mary Bordelon (Jason), and Jonathan Buras (Rachel); grandchildren, Viktorija Pelas, Julian Brandon, Weston LaFollette, Tyson Fisher, Raynae Fisher, Sabrina Buras, and Jansen Pellegrin; great grandchild, Benjamin Wade; and sisters, Margaret Byerley (Duane), Melinda Steele (Curtis), Marianne Matherne, and Martha Matherne. He is preceded in death by his parents, Virgie Marchand Matherne and Nelson Matherne; brother, David Matherne, and son, Marlin Fisher.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Please consider donating to Ducks Unlimited in lieu of flowers.
