Marjorie Jane "Margie" Porter was born on June 2, 1927, to Carl and Edna Riecker in Lowell, Ohio. She graduated from Carrizo Springs High School in 1944 and attended Texas A & I College in Kingsville, TX. She is survived by her three children, Richard Porter, Jeff Porter, and Jan Porter Allred and spouse Allen; five grandchildren Tiffani Herring Lagarrigue and spouse Steven, Matthew Herring and spouse Nicole, Amy Porter, Troy Porter, and Julia Porter; and four great-grandchildren Marissa, Madison, Emma, and Ella; along with nephews, nieces, and family friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Troy G. Porter Jr.; and her parents Carl and Edna Riecker. Margie and Troy moved from Brownsville, TX, to make their home in Gonzales, LA, in 1957. She retired from Dupont as an Administrative Assistant. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, homemaker, scout leader, band mom, and Family Life Leader at the United Methodist Church. She was an avid LSU baseball fan. She and Troy enjoyed many years of square dancing, gardening, family gatherings, and church activities. Visitation will begin at Ourso Funeral Home on Saturday March 3, 2018, from 9 am until a celebration of her life to begin at 11 am by Pastor Scott Bledsoe. Followed by burial at Hope Haven Garden of Memories Cemetery in Gonzales, La. Pallbearers will be Matthew Herring, Troy Porter, Steven Lagarrigue, Allen Allred, Jimmy Allred, Alberto Murillo.
