Kenneth "Kent" Dalton Melancon Sr.

Kent was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. He was a native of New Orleans and resident of Prairieville, he passed away Thursday, December 26, 2013, at the age of 84. Kent was a retired pipefitter and a member with the Local 198. He loved spending time with his family, fishing, and being outdoors. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Evelyn "Tobie" Braud Melancon; daughters, Malvina "Vennie" Elisar and husband Bobby, Gretchen Daffin and husband Jerry; son, Kenneth Melancon Jr. "Kenny" and wife Cindy; grandchildren and their spouses, Sheree E. Mire and Kurt, Leslie E. Templet and Boyd, Kami Lambert, Ryan McCool and Kerry, "Ken" Kenneth D. Melancon III, Corey McCool and Megumi; great grandchildren, Chanie Mire, Madison Mire, Laynie Lambert, Jordan Templet, Sydney Templet; sister, Mary Babin; brothers, Clyde Melancon Jr. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Melancon Sr. and Bessie D. Gautreau. Visiting will be at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales on Monday, December 30, 2013 from 9:00 am until religious services in the chapel at 11:00 am. Entombment to follow in Hope Haven Mausoleum, Prairieville. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and family.
