Kenny was retired from Shell Chemical in Geismar as a Process Technician with over 30 years of service. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren, meditating on life, singing, everything about the outdoors (walking on the levy and watching the ships, watching sun rises and sun sets, nature, riding his bike, and taking care of his yard). The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Jay Brooks and all of the oncology nurses at Ochsner Medical Center, Bluebonnet, the Carpenter House and their staff, the staff of St. Joseph Hospice: Dr. Pope and Dr. Nelson, Heather Petit, Shelly Weaver, Diane David, Don Fischer, Katherine Allen, and special thanks to one of the most thoughtful, caring, and emphatic nurses, Dawn Lowe, who we came to love and feel as though she was one of the family. Thanks to all of his friends from Shell who took the time to call and come by to visit. Thanks to his niece Sherry who unselfishly gave her time to visit Kenny often and brighten his day and relieve him of some of his pain with much appreciated massages that were given with love. Thanks to Brother Jim of First Baptist Church in Gonzales for his ministering to Kenny, the bible study ladies that supplied meals when he was going through chemotherapy treatments, and Ms. Gael Chidester who brightened his day and filled him with peace with her prayers when we called her day or night. Thanks to Connie DeVille for being our special angel, helping us through this time of uncertainty from the day he was diagnoses with cancer until the day he took his last breath, and for still here for us until this day. Thanks to his brothers and sisters for coming together and bonding with Kenny and giving him so much love. And most importantly, thanks to 1st Lieutenant Jack “Jackie” Young USMC for being so loving and unselfish and allowing his wife Kristy and family to be with Dad and Granddad which meant the world to him. Kenny was so proud of you Jack for being the husband and father you are, and for your service to our country. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.oursofh.com.
