Mr. John T. Whitman

John “Terry” Whitman went to his heavenly home on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at the age of 84. He was a native of Kansas City, MO and resident of Prairieville. He attended Indiana University before proudly serving in the U.S. Army as a medic, stationed in Germany. Terry retired from Dow Chemical after working as a maintenance supervisor for 40 years. Terry and his wife were world travelers visiting many places in Europe, the Caribbean and all 50 states except Hawaii. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Louise LaLonde Whitman; daughter, Karen Whitman; sons, Mike and Tom Whitman; grandchildren, John Austin and Harrison Roy Tuminello. Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Clare and Mary Shaughnessy Whitman; sister, Claire Whitman Rebone and an infant brother. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant from 9:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am. Entombment will follow in the church mausoleum. The Whitman family extends a special thanks to all the family, friends, medical staff and caregivers who provided unending love and assistance at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Ascension Oaks Nursing Home and St. Joseph Hospice at the Carpenter House. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Terry’s honor to St. Joseph Hospice at the Carpenter House or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
