Hazel M. Lee, age 100, a cherished resident of Sorrento, Louisiana, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024. She was a proud homemaker, a dedicated CCD teacher for many years, and found joy in various activities such as traveling, celebrating 50 & 80 years milestone anniversaries, tending to her plants, and passionately supporting LSU football games. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, Philomene L. Villnuve and Louis Villnuve; sister, Elnora Trabeau-Decoteau; brother-in-law, Frank Melancon, Joseph Trabeau, and Big Eye Decoteau; niece, Tami Babin; nephews, Kenny Melancon and Kerry Trabeau, as well as several nieces, nephews, brother-in-laws, and sister-in-law on the Lee side. She is survived by her adoring husband of over 80 years, Edmond J. Lee. She leaves behind a legacy in the hearts of her niece and godchild, Tyra Babin McCoy, and her husband Randy, along with their children, Justin, Jason, and Kelsey. Additionally, she is survived by her niece, Jackie Melancon Fife, her husband Don, and their children, Lindsay (Phil) Fife Berthelot, along with their children. Other survivors include niece, Debbie Bryant Trabeau, and her children, Chris and Megan Trabeau Schexnayder and her child, Brooke; nephews, Grady Melancon, his wife Peggy, and their children, Jeffrey, Bart, Ron, along with their wives, Pam, Robyn, and Shawna, along with their children; and nephew, Tregg Babin. Sisters, Sammie Melancon and Judith “Jut” Babin; brother-in-law, Gary Babin, also survive her. Pallbearers honored to serve are Grady Melancon, Don Fife, Randy McCoy, Bart Melancon, Chris Trabeau, Preston Berthelot, and Thanh Bui. Honorary pallbearers include Gary Babin, Perry Schexnayder, Jason Schexnayder, Lathan Fife, Peyton Berthelot, and Paxton Berthelot. Visitation for Hazel will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy, Gonzales, Louisiana 70737. Another visitation will occur on Friday, February 2, 2024, from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM at St. Anne Catholic Church, 7356 Main St, Sorrento, Louisiana 70778. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 AM at St. Anne Catholic Church. The committal service will take place at 11:00 AM at Hope Haven Garden of Memory, 604 E. Hwy 30, Gonzales, Louisiana 70737. The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the Bridgeway Hospice staff and nurses, Deb, Anna, and Angelique, as well as the night sitters, Lola B. Kinler, Buffy Rouyea, Lauri Smith, Laurie Thornton, and neighbors, Patsy Melancon, Linda Browa, Lenora, and LaRue, for their unwavering support.
