A beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, native of Breaux Bridge and a resident of Prairieville, she passed away Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at the age of 82. Her hobbies included gardening, spending time with her family, especially walking, hunting and fishing with her husband and children, and writing eloquently and passionately in journals she would keep. She would say her rosary every night. She was a proficient seamstress and made all of her daughter’s clothes, including all formal attire and their wedding dresses. She was also Den Mother for her son’s Cub Scouts Troop. After graduating high school, she attended Opelousas Beauty School where she received a cosmetology degree and often would fix the hair of her close friends and neighbors. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Mike Kilcrease, Kathie and David Murchie, Diana and Bob Gulledge; sons and daughters-in-law, Leland and Sandy Sharon, Keith and Myra Sharon; her sixth child, Donna Chustz Kirkland; sister, Joyce Virginia Poche Bernard; brother-in-law, James Otis Sharon; sister-in-law, Lucille Poche; 14 grandchildren, Michael and Douglas Kilcrease, Kimberly Fergeson, Robert Hardy, Jason Pino, Joseph Leggett, Tami Bratton, Tiffany Koza, Carlysle Gulledge, Brandon and Chris Sharon, Jennifer Fitch, Megan Sharon, Collin Sharon; 18 great-grandchildren, four of which are named after her, Gage and Jared Kilcrease, Alexandra McCreary, Cade Fergeson, Michael and Lauryn Elizabeth Hardy, Bryson and Jayden Pino, Stormy Elizabeth Leggett, Haley, Garett, Grayson Bratton, Jake and Elizabeth Koza, Rob Gulledge III, Grace Elizabeth Sharon, Kylie and Koby Fitch; numerous loving nieces and nephews; a very special friend and companion, her eight year old dachshund, Lizzie; and her devoted neighbors, Pam and Tommy. Preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Leland Clement “L.C.” Sharon Sr.; parents, Lula Marie Hollier and Golden Joseph Poche; and her much loved brother, Merrill Poche. Pallbearers will be her nine grandsons. There will be a visitation at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, Wednesday, Feb. 23, from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Following, there will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Prairieville, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Nutan “Sylvester” Minj, celebrant. Interment will be in Prairieville Community Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Carpenter House, St. Joseph Hospice.
