Betty Jean Miller Dixon

GONZALES – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mrs. Betty Jean Miller Dixon, age 81, at 10:30 am Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Ourso Funeral Home with Rev. Leon Carpenter and Brad Dixon officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 8:30 am until 10:30 am on Saturday.

A resident of Galvez, Mrs. Dixon passed away at 6:50 pm on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She passed away due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease.

Mrs. Dixon loved being outdoors and tending to her garden and flowers. She was very close to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who she loved very much. For many years, Mrs. Dixon was a school bus driver for Ascension Parish. The family would like to thank special friends, Smokey Dixon, Dianne Bihm and the wonderful staff at Hospice Compassus, especially Nurse Amy Young and Melissa Bayer for all of their care.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Lynn L. Dixon; son, Lyle Dixon and wife Ava; daughters, Laurie Campbell and husband Jerry, Kay Melancon and husband Rodney, Nona Dixon; grandchildren, Chet Dixon, Chad Dixon and wife Paige, Amy Dixon, Jason Melancon and wife Marci, Jodi Decoteau and husband Caleb, Derek Campbell; great-grandchildren, Layne Melancon, Lex Melancon, Layton Melancon, Lennon Arceneaux, Alaina Mitchell, Kate Decoteau, Carmen Dixon, Cole Dixon; brothers-in-law, Aubrey Broussard, Lyonell Dixon; sisters-in-law, Ruby Dixon and Jeanette Dixon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac D. Miller and Dany S. Miller; son, Lynn L. Dixon, Jr.; sisters, Helen Maggio, Dorothy Stablier, Bonnie Broussard and in-laws Isaac and Josephine Dixon.

Pallbearers will be Chet Dixon, Chad Dixon, Jason Melancon, Derek Campbell, Joe Courtney and Welman Hebert. Lewis May, Albert Dixon and M.H. Dixon will serve as honorary pallbearers.
