A native of Brignac and resident of Head of Island, he died on Tuesday, July 12, 2011. A retired carpenter and army veteran who served during the Korean War, he was 79. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Troy Matthews, of Port Vincent; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Mark and Dee Babin, of Livingston, Wendell and Tona Babin, of Head of Island, and Gregory Babin, of Head of Island; two sisters, Grace Gordon, of Stilwell, OK, and Alene Daigle, of White Castle; one brother, Ivy Babin, of Lake; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Misty and Marc Malbrough, of Gonzales, Mikel and Tracie Crawford, of Killian, Wendell and Amanda Babin, of Waggman, Jill Babin and Stephen Calato, of Chalmette, Jodie and Brad Landry, of Denham Springs, Mark Babin Jr., of Gonzales, and Chris and Brandy Shoeman, of Duco, Illinois; and 11 great grandchildren, Kaleigh, Matthew, Kandace, Sarah, Ethan, Parker, Alissa, Bryce, Ian, Josh, and Abby. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Brown Babin; parents, Ellis and Lucille Sanchez Babin; four brothers, E.B., Phillip “Nap”, Whitney Sr., and Alvis Babin; and one sister, Iona All. Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Thursday, July 14, 2011 from 5 pm until 9 pm. Visitation will resume on Friday, July 14, 2011 at St. Stephen Catholic Church, Maurepas, from 12 pm until Mass of Christian Burial at 1 pm. Burial to follow in Whitehall Community Cemetery. Pallbearers are Mikel Crawford, Mark Babin Jr., Wendell Babin Jr., Matthew Matherne, Marc Malbrough, and Brad Landry.
