Anthony James Bruno Jr., 83, passed away peacefully in his home on October 18th, 2021. He was born on January 20, 1938, in Galvez, Louisiana, and was a lifelong resident of Ascension Parish. Anthony proudly ran and operated the Colonial Amoco Service Station, Home and Garden Improvement Company, and was a veteran of the United States Army Reserve. He was also a devout Catholic and dedicated his life to St. Mark’s Church by participating in the St. Joseph’s Altar and attending Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament. His favorite pastimes consisted of working in his garden, leading as the patriarch of his family, and serving his community. Anthony’s work ethic and servant’s heart defined his life and legacy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Gulino Bruno, and his five children: Denise Lee, Angela Rovira (Chip), Carla Reames (Will), Matthew Bruno, and Patrick Bruno (Lisa); as well as his eleven grandchildren: Jared, Rachel, Katherine, and Joshua Rovira: Grace and Grant Reames; Schyler and Eva Lee; Jacob, Joseph, and Jordan Bruno. He is also survived by his sister Mary Catherine Grimball (Terry). He is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony Sr. and Mary Bruno; brothers: Joseph, Ignatius “Nick”, and Michael “Robert” Bruno; and sisters: Marion Salario and Anna Lapino.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 22, 2021 at St. Marks Catholic Church in Gonzales, Louisiana, with viewing from 9:30-11:00 a.m. and recitation of the rosary at 9:30 a.m. Mass will follow at 11:00 and the entombment at Hope Haven Mausoleum in Prairieville. Pallbearers for the funeral service will be Will Reames, Chip Rovira, Matthew Bruno, Patrick Bruno, Jared Rovira, Joshua Rovira, and Grant Reames.
