Michael Arthur Nichols, beloved son, brother, husband, father, & uncle, returned to the arms of his maker on Tuesday, August 30th, 2022. Born January 7th, 1949, he was the second child by two minutes of Walter & Alyce Nichols. He grew up in Arcadia, CA, attending Annunciation School, one year at Bishop Amat HS, & graduated from Monrovia High School in 1967. He earned his associate's degree at Citrus College & graduated from California State University, Los Angeles in 1972 with a bachelor's degree in recreation science. He was employed for many years as a recreation leader in the community services department for the cities of Monrovia & Azusa. In 1973 he began working in the pressroom at Avery Label, & for four decades worked in label printing, retiring from West Coast Labels in 2014.
In 1970, he met Joyce Zschoche, & they were married on September 7th, 1974. They became the proud parents of Scott Arthur in 1975, Christine Marie in 1977, & Julie Ann in 1982. The family resided in Monrovia, Arcadia, Azusa, & eventually Glendora. In 2001, Michael & Joyce became the proud grandparents of Christine's son Robert Anthony & Scott's daughter Lily Alison.
Mike enjoyed officiating local baseball games from Little League all the way to young adult pickup leagues, & he loved watching his beloved Angels play ball, but more than anything his favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family & friends, who he loved with all of his heart.
He is survived by his wife Joyce, his son Scott, daughters Christine & Julie, his fraternal twin Mary-Ellen, his younger sister Patricia, his younger brothers Timothy, Gregory, & David, his grandchildren Rob & Lily, & his beloved nieces, nephews, grandnephews, grandnieces & extended family & friends who all looked up to his strength, his faith, his work ethic, & his irrepressible humor. He was our champion. We'll miss you, handsome dude.
