Virginia Balgos Acdan was the eighth child, born to the blessed union of Segundo Acdan and Isabel Balgos Acdan in Badoc Ilocos Norte, Philippines on November 4, 1944. She was surrounded by a big, loving, and hardworking family. She attended Paltit Elementary School and as a child, Virginia was very industrious. She loved to help her parents and take care of her 2 younger siblings, Emma and Leticia. After graduating from Juan Luna Memorial High School, Virginia worked assisting doctors at nearby Corpuz Hospital.
In 1968, Virginia migrated to the United States with her siblings, Benigna and Juanito Acdan, with the sponsorship of her sister, Magdalena Pascua. Virginia had a beautiful spirit and was always smiling. She was always kind, caring, and loving to her family and friends alike. These qualities carried over to her work with patients as a Nursing Assistant, EKG Technician, and Phlebotomist, ultimately retiring from St. Vincent Medical Center in Los Angeles after over 35 years of service.
Virginia loved to spend time with her family and frequented the casinos. She enjoyed traveling and visited places like the Philippines, Canada, the East Coast, and Hawaii. She loved gardening and it gave her immense joy to share her abundant fruits and vegetables with others. In retirement, Virginia continued to put others first by being supportive, loving, and providing great care to her family.
In July 2022, Virginia was hospitalized for the first time, entered rehab for two weeks, then was readmitted back to the hospital and diagnosed with brain cancer. During that time in the hospital, Virginia reaped what she sowed, as she was well taken care of in the same way she cared for others. Virginia was in the hospital for over 4 months, with family never leaving her side until God called her home on November 21, 2022.
Virginia is survived by her sisters, Magdalena Pascua, Helen Fernandez, Emma Romero, and Leticia Reynaldo; as well as a whole host of family members, friends, nephews, nieces, and grandchildren.
Virginia is reunited in Heaven with her beloved parents, Segundo Acdan and Isabel Balgos Acdan; siblings, Adelina, Benigna, Tomas, Juanito, and Maria Acdan, as well as other beloved family members.
