Gregory Monroe Crowley Butterfield
June 30, 1953 – September 1, 2024
Gregory M. Crowley / Butterfield passed away
on Sunday, September 1, 2024.
Greg passed unexpectedly of a heart attack. Greg was born on June 30,
1953, to Woodrow Wilson Crowley and Barbara Jeanne Stout. Greg lived in
Torrance, CA through 9th grade and then Cedartown, GA where he
graduated from Cedartown High School in 1971.
Greg served in the Army Corps of Engineers, training in Carpentry. He
became quite a runner and was awarded by the military for winning several
competitions and received soldier of the month at his military base multiple
times.
Greg was very smart and meticulous. He traveled the United States having
adventures and researching his family history. His family was blessed by the
family tree he was able to put together in the 1970’s.
He worked in the Carpentry field for several years in Northern CA and then
as a legal assistant at a large law firm in Los Angeles, CA. During this time,
Greg was one of the few AID’s survivors in the mid 1980’s. He fought
continuous battles with his health throughout the years and amazingly lived
to be 71 years old.
Greg is survived by his sister, Wanda (Raymond) Race, and many cousins
throughout the USA. His family and friends are grateful to have known him.
Greg will be buried next to his father at the Friendship Cemetery,
Cedartown, GA. A Celebration of Life will be held at the cemetery the
weekend of November 9 -10 for close family and friends.
Please feel free to post any fond memories of Greg.
