He was born in Kanab, Utah on December 14, 1935. Wan attended Kanab High School in Utah.
Wan had a career in Cattle Ranching for Ward Ranch, where he received the Range Management Award from the state of Arizona. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and had a passion for quality horses.
He was survived by his daughter Michele Schimmel (Mackelprang), grandchildren Cole Schimmel, Ashton Schimmel, Brent Bushong, Blake Bushong, Abbi Bushong, sister Frankie Hawley (Mackelprang), and his son in law Glenn Bushong.
