Shelley Elizabeth Burrell Mosley, 66, of Peoria, AZ passed away August 16, 2017. She was born September 8, 1950 in Baxter Springs, Kansas. She and her family moved to Arizona in 1957. Shelley graduated from Maryvale High School (Phoenix) where she met future husband David Mosley. Shelley received her BS degree in Education from Grand Canyon University and her MS degree in Library Science from the University of Arizona. Shelley became a librarian for Glendale Public Libraries. After twenty-four years as manager of the Velma Teague Branch Library in downtown Glendale, she retired in 2004. During her career, she was also an elementary teacher, a university lecturer, an adjunct librarian at Glendale Community College, as well as a published author. In 1999, Shelley and her writing partner, Deborah Mazoyer, (a.k.a. Deborah Shelley) published their first of several romance novels, “Talk About Love”. Shelley also co-authored several non-fiction reference guides with John Charles. Most recently Shelley founded and chaired a program called NEIGHBOR, a community network which helps people in need. She also enjoyed teaching a monthly memoirs class at the First United Methodist Church of Glendale. David and Shelley were traveling to witness the solar eclipse when Shelley suffered a stroke and passed away in Wichita, Kansas. Shelley is survived by her husband, David Mosley; her children Andrew Mosley (Jodi Ford) and Jessica Mosley (Brandon Dwyer); grandchildren, Stephen Ford and Wyatt Ford; sister, Vicki Burrell; and special cousin, Mia Elmsater. Shelley was an amazing woman who touched many lives and will be greatly missed. Services will be held on Monday, August 28th at 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church of Glendale, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the First United Methodist Church for the Brad Riner Assistance Fund.
