Mary L. Bushong Hartman, 97, passed away on November 17, 2023 while in Hospice care. She was born Mary Louise Coppinger, “Tootsie,” on August 4, 1926 in Tolleson, AZ. She loved all kinds of crafts and was a wonderful cook. She married Dick Bushong in 1942, who she spent 35 years with, until his death in 1978. In 1983, she married Harold (Bud) Hartman, whom she was with for 30 years. Mary worked for Tanner Corporation for 10 years, where she retired. After her retirement, she and Bud built a beautiful home in Overgaard, AZ where they enjoyed hosting lots of family events and had a huge garden. They then moved to Payson, AZ in 1996 where they made many friends. Mary loved the outdoors, especially the Rim area.
She is survived by: one sister, Frankie L. Johnsen (Larry), 3 sons, Robert J. Bushong (Joyce), John J. Bushong (Judy), and David L. Bushong, and one daughter, JoAnn Bushong Williamson, 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and many great great grandchildren and lots of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents John and Marie; her brothers Billy, RL, Charlie, Art Coppinger and sister Lola Stacy. Mary played fast pitch softball for the Tolleson B’s team where she was a very good pitcher; she loved watching the Diamondbacks team and she never missed watching a game. A Visitation will be held at 10am on December 4, 2023 Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary 7924 N. 59th Ave, Glendale, AZ with a Funeral Service at 11am. A Graveside Service will follow at 12pm at West Resthaven Cemetery 6450 W. Northern Ave Glendale, AZ
