Linda Lou Corder, age 80, passed away on March 8, 2018 in Avondale, Arizona. She was born on September 15, 1937 in Martinsville, Indiana and met her future husband, Gary Gene Corder while in high school. Linda and Gary were married on August 17, 1956 and together they had 3 children, Mark, Patricia, and Ralph.
In the early 60s their family moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Linda and Gary were active in the Freedom 10 CB Club where Linda's CB handle was "Feather Duster" and Gary's was "Machinist". They even had the 3 kids participate too. Linda helped the club in many ways including acting as club secretary, helping in the kitchen to prepare food for fundraisers, helping with raffles, and participating in games and walk-a-thons. All of the money earned from the club's fundraising went to help the Upward Foundation, which is dedicated to improving the lives of children and families with special needs.
Linda was also very active with her church, First Christian Church of Glendale, where she was a Sunday school teacher and a deacon. She was always helping others when they were in need whether it be with babysitting, cleaning, or anything else that needed to be done. Linda was a very loving mother and wife, she took care of her family and made sure that their needs were met. She worked hard during her entire life, even while raising her children, and at different times she was an Orthosis Fitter at M.D. Pharmacy, a cashier at Woolworths, Skaggs, and Southwest Super Market, and a manager at EZ Way Mini Storage.
Linda is survived by her son, Mark Haines Corder of Sylmar, California, her daughter, Patricia Lynn Corder of Avondale, Arizona, her grandchildren, Amber Martin (David), Tamara Corder (Mark), Krystal Corder Smith (Mike), Monty Watkins, and Sierra Watkins, and her great-grandchildren, Dayman Smith, Destiny Smith, Dillan Smith, Hollis Martin, and Lyra Martin. She was preceded in death by her husband Gary Gene Corder in 2003 and her son Ralph Lee Corder in 1989.
Services for Linda will take place on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 beginning with viewing at 10 AM and funeral service at 11 AM both held at First Christian Church of Glendale, 6242 N 59th Ave, Glendale, AZ. Interment will follow at 1 PM at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.
