Larry Flores

Larry Flores, 73, entered into heaven on January 2, 2022 with his family at his side. Larry was born in Phoenix, AZ, an only child, to Antoinette Turner. He was raised by his grandmother and grandfather Kathleen and Pink Turner alongside his Aunt Vera, after the passing of his mother. Shortly after graduating from Phoenix Union High School, Larry was drafted into the United States Army. During his three years of military service, Larry served as a Communication Center Specialist and earned the following awards and recognitions: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. Larry also received a Certificate presented by the Governor of Arizona when he completed his Apprenticeship in the trade as a Journeyman Electrician.

Following his service in the United States Army, Larry and Liz began their life together and raised five beautiful children. When his grandchildren came into his life, his heart was stolen forever. His family meant the world to him, and he loved them more than anything. Larry had a unique and special relationship with each one of them.

One of the things Larry treasured the most was spending time with his family. He loved the holidays because everyone was together. Thanksgiving was one of his favorites to celebrate because of the good food and everyone shared what they were thankful for. During Christmas, Larry would insist that each grandchild got everything they wanted. Then, the family would celebrate and bring in the new year together. Larry was present for his children's accomplishments and weddings; he also happily attended his grandchildren’s school events, athletic activities, graduations, and a wedding.

Larry enjoyed the outdoors with his family and friends. They would go camping and fishing while enjoying great food and drinks. Larry was known as a “Jack of All Trades” and always kept himself busy with projects, whether they were his own or lending a hand to others. He was a great friend and will always hold a special place in their hearts. Larry was very kind and always shared his wisdom and knowledge with others. He was an exceptional provider for his family and retired from the City of Phoenix in 2008. After retirement, Larry was able to spend more with his family and do all the things he enjoyed. Larry was an Arizona Cardinals and Phoenix Suns fan and enjoyed going to the games or sitting at home with family and friends watching his favorite teams play. Also, he was a member of the All God’s Children Collector’s Club of Arizona.

Larry leaves behind his wife, Elizabeth; 5 children, Ansanett (Samuel), Joseph (Julie), Christopher (Pamela), Kathleen (Joseph), and Larry Jr. (Olga); 14 grandchildren (Erika, Joseph A., Jasmine, Christopher, Justin, Allexis, Joseph J., Mark, Jacob, Samuel, Andrew, Giselle, Camilla, and Sophia); Aunt Vera (Robert) who were like a sister and a brother, Aunt Willi C., Aunt Freeda; and extended family and friends.

Larry is preceded in heaven by his mother, Antoinette, and grandparents, Kathleen and Pink Turner.
