John William Wellman (Bill), age 94, of Glendale Arizona, passed away January 29, 2017 in Phoenix Arizona. He was born on December 3, 1922 at Cardston, Alberta, Canada to his parents John Alfred Wellman and Rhoda Leavitt. When he was 12 years old his family moved to a ranch near Waterton Park where he helped his dad with the dairy farm. Bill served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Pilot Officer during WWII. Bill and his wife Norma moved to Arizona in 1959 with their two young boys. He later became the owner of Wellman’s Transmission Specialists Inc. in Phoenix, from 1969-2001, where he worked alongside his sons Bob and Bruce. He was married to Dorris Wellman on November 23, 1983. Bill is survived by his wife Dorris, son Robert Wellman, son Michael Treguboff, and daughter Joy Ward, daughter- in- law Marsha Wellman (wife of Robert), and daughter- in- law Karen Wellman (wife of Bruce). He was the proud grandfather of 8 grandsons, 15 granddaughters, 80 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Enid Barnhardt, and Jennie West and his brother Calvin Wellman. Bill was preceded in death by his first wife Norma Beazer, daughter Rita Wellman, son Edward Bruce Wellman, and granddaughter Deanna Inman. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM on Friday, February 10, 2017 at Chapel of the Chimes 7924 N. 59th Ave Glendale, AZ. Committal service will be held at 2:30 PM at West Resthaven Cemetery.
