James was a retired veteran of the Army National Guard, serving for more than 20 years. He then retired from the work force after dedicating 40 years to SRP. James was a devoted member of the Glendale and Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge. He was a family man, never missing an opportunity to spend time with those he loved. Along with family and friends, James was happy to spend time with his Great Pyrenees, Gibbs, which he had welcomed into the family just nine years earlier. Gibbs would join James and his son on annual camping trips, as he truly loved the great outdoors. When he got the chance, James could be found camping, fishing, or cooking a nice meal on his smoker.
James is survived by his children William (Gina) Murchison and Kari Holler, grandchildren Zachary Murchison, Michael Murchison, Anthony (Vanessa) Murchison, Ashley (Garren) Wilkens, Kaitlyn (Garrett) Johnson, and Cassie (Scott) Holler, great-grandchildren Nathan, Christopher, Amelia, Elizabeth, Draven and Felicity, and his nephew Rich Wright.
Along with his parents, James is preceded in death by his sister Mary Puntil, and grandson Nicholas Kelly.
A visitation will be held at West Resthaven Funeral Home on Monday, April 24, 2023 at 12:00pm, with a funeral service following at 1:00pm. A graveside committal service, with military honors, will take place at Resthaven Park Cemetery, beginning at 2:00pm.
