Beyer, James Richard
78 passed away on February 9, 2011. passed peacefully from this life at Hospice of the Valley in Peoria on February 9, 2011. Mr. Beyer was born in Natick, Massachusetts on September 18, 1932. Upon graduation from Natick High School in 1950, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged after 27 years of service, having attained the rank of Chief Master Sargeant. He was honored with the Bronze Star for his outstanding contributions. His military career included one tour of service in Korea and three tours of duty in Vietnam. He retired from active military service in 1974 and retired to Arizona, with his wife Mitsy Beyer. Jim was fortunate to have a large group of friends with whom he enjoyed many years of fun and adventure. James was the son of the late Richard and Grace( Hammond) Beyer of Natick, Massachusetts. He was predeceased by his wife Mitsuko Nakanishi Beyer in 1997. He is survived by his sister, Joan Beyer Petrovick and brother in law John G. Petrovick of Walpole, Massachusetts; his nephew John G. Petrovick Jr., of Hudson, Massachusetts; his niece Laurie Petrovick of Beverly, Massachusetts; one grand nephew and three grand nieces all of Massachusetts. He is also survived by his wife's niece and nephew, Sasuma and Naomi Sano of Hiroshima Japan; and numerous other members of his late wife's family residing in Japan. In addition to his family, he is survived by his "Arizona" family, Ruby and Marty Rojas and their children of Peoria, AZ who were a constant source of love and companionship. Jim is also survived by two particularly close friends, Kay Kesler of Peoria, AZ and Walt Orckaski of Glendale, AZ. A memorial service will be held at West Resthaven Chapel, 6450 W. Northern Ave., Glendale on Saturday February 12, 2011 at 11:00 AM. All are welcome to attend.
