Gladys Irene Franks, 90, of Peoria, passed away on November 8, 2019 in Peoria, Arizona. She was born on March 10, 1929 to the late George and Florence Fisher Hartge in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Hurst High School in 1947. She worked for Woolworths in Mt. Pleasant and then Woolco in Phoenix after relocating to Arizona in 1976. She then worked at Peoria High School as a matron until her retirement in 1997.
She enjoyed gardening and the canning and freezing that followed. She always had a full freezer and cupboards. Cooking was her way of showing love and you never left her house hungry.
Gladys is survived by her companion of many years, JR Chagolla; step-daughter, Patricia Truxel; daughter, Barbara (Bruce) Vickerman; son, William Franks; grandchildren; Paul (Laura) Crosby and Mark (Bridgette) Crosby; Doug (Christy) Truxel; Juanita (Andy) Rozik; great grandchildren; Jereth (Michelle) Jenkins; Corbin (Annalit) Crosby; Cody Crosby; CheyAnne Crosby; Gary Crosby; Crystal Rozik; Natasha Partee; Doug Truxel Jr; Kayla Truxel; Joseph Balko; James Gatewood; and great great grandchildren; Garyth Jenkins; Aria Crosby; and Orion Crosby; and many other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her siblings; Catherine (Harry) Overly; Ruth Mae (William) Dillinger; and Henry (Bessie) Hartge; her ex-husband, William Franks( 39 years); daughter, Linda Franks; step-daughter, Catherine Evans; sons-in-law, Gary Crosby, Harry Truxel and Joseph Gatewood.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 N. 59th Ave, Glendale, Arizona with the Service following at 11:00 a.m.
