Gary Walter Davis passed away on July 10, 2021. He was born on March 19, 1947 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Walter and Joan Davis. He grew up in rural Ohio where his love for the outdoors began with fishing, hunting and camping.
Gary served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1970. He then relocated his family to Phoenix, Arizona, where he began his law enforcement career with the Phoenix Police Department. While there, he earned several commendations for his achievements in his duties. In 1993 Gary retired from PPD after 23 years and continued his career at Safeway as security director. Later, he owned and operated his own sign business.
During all of Gary's endeavors, his love for the outdoors was a large part of his life, bringing friends and family together to his favorite places in northern Arizona. Thankfully, he has passed along this love for the outdoors to his children and grandchildren, many of whom are following in his footsteps.
He is survived by three children Jason (Kim) Davis, Christy Bracke & Nikki (Barry) Ford, two sisters Marsha Davis & Robin Stacey, nine grandchildren Joe, Cameron, Sydney, Luke, Ben, Sara, Laura, Emma & Aaron and his former wife and mother of his children Mary Davis. In addition to his parents, his brother Brett preceded Gary in death.
Family and friends are invited to a gathering on Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 1-3PM at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Avenue, Glendale. Military honors will be rendered at 2PM.
