Born Betty Rogers, Betty married Chuck New on May 5, 1967 in Phoenix, Arizona. They enjoyed 51 years together, before his passing. They are survived by their 3 children: Sheryl Horlbeck, Mark New and Nancy Kay Myers (deceased April 1998). Betty, known as Mema, is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Natosha Koltweit, Karrington Hahn, Victoria Myers, Mariah Horlbeck, Jessica Horlbeck, Nathaniel New, Autumn New and Alyssa Horlbeck. Betty is survived by one great-grandchild: Natalyn Neese. Betty Anne, as they call her, is further survived by her dear brothers and sister: David Rogers, Joy Baer, John Rogers and Tim Rogers.
Betty was an accomplished seamstress and entrepreneur. She co-owned Pestaway Exterminating Company with Chuck and owned B. New Creations and Friendly Glass Company. Some of Betty’s many talents included: baking, singing in the church choir, volunteering, home improvement, decorating, sewing and cooking/catering. She was very creative and full of enthusiasm, always ready to, as she would say, “make it happen.” Her greatest love after Christ was her family. She loved them fiercely and created a welcoming home for anyone who needed one. She frequently volunteered her home, talents, time and heart to all she cared for and to those in need.
Betty’s energy and spirit were youthful and benevolent. Her servant's heart and selfless character filled her 80 years abundantly. Her presence made an impact on all she met and her absence is felt deeply by those she loved.
