Jack married Etta Hopper on June 19, 1959; they would have celebrated 65 years of marriage this year.
He was a cement mason affiliated with Operative Plasterers’ and Cement Masons’, Local 394, receiving his Gold Card in 1990 for 30 consecutive years.
He was a former president of the Salt River Bow Hunters Club winning many trophies and ribbons for his marksmanship at archery meets.
Being an avid hunter and fisherman, he held a Pioneer Combo Hunting and Fishing License by the Arizona Game and Fish Department. His love for animals led him to have many over the years to include: horses, goats, dogs, chickens, fallow deer, pigs, many kinds of foul, and donkeys. He owned a mammoth jack donkey and raised mules. A fad was begun by him with his friends and associates to turn from horses to mules.
Jack is survived by his loving wife Etta, two children Annette (Tracy) Cyprian and Garland (Patricia) Hatfield; eight grandchildren Christopher Hansen, Nick Hansen, Katrina Hansen, Ashley Brittain, Krystal Herrera, Taylor Cyprian, Bubba Smith and Tina Smith; nine great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law Paula (Ray) Dvorak.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant child, four brothers Ray (Maxine), Tommy, Baby Hatfield & Dutch (Linda), great grandson Kyle Downes, brother-in-law Ernest Hopper and sister-in-law Juanita Friesner.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Friday, March 15, 2024 from 10-11AM at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Avenue, Glendale, AZ 85301. Funeral services will begin at 11AM and burial will follow in Resthaven Park Cemetery, Glendale.
