Margaret Ann “Bub” (Scholz) Petitt , 81, died peacefully on October 18, 2023. Margaret was born on January 23, 1942 in Kansas City, MO to Gerard and Margaret Scholz. She graduated from St. Pius High School in 1960 and attended Northwest Missouri State University. Margaret married her neighborhood sweetheart, Floyd J. Petitt, on September 21, 1963. Margaret dedicated her life to her family and was a devoted daughter, sister, wife and mother. Her three sons’ fondest memory of their mother was her passion for always putting family first. In addition to being a dedicated home maker, she spent over 20 years working for Kmart as a sales associate and is still fondly remembered by her coworkers. She was a devout Catholic and lifetime member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed giving to charities, hunting bargains, playing Bingo, and spending time with family.
Margaret was preceded in death by her loving husband of 38 years, Floyd; her brother Jim Scholz of St. Louis, MO, and her mother and father. Survivors include: her sons Mark S. Petitt and his wife Pauline Petitt of North Kansas City, MO, Michael S. Petitt of Gladstone, MO, and Drs. Matthew S. Petitt and his wife Elizabeth Petitt of League City, TX; her grandsons Matthew F. Petitt and J. Ethan Petitt; her sisters Cheryl Jones of Kearney, MO, Jackie Tuck of Kearney, MO, and Theresa Froehlich of North Kansas City, MO. Margaret will be missed by all; she will always be a part of our lives. We love you.
The family will receive friends for visitation at noon on Tuesday, October 24 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1401 NE 42nd Terrace, Kansas City, MO., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 PM. Interment in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Gladstone, MO. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church or to the Bishop Sullivan Center.
Margaret will be laid to rest in White Chapel Cemetery, 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119.
