Born Linda Sue McDonough, to Robert and Neysa McDonough. She grew up on her parents farm just north of Osborn, Missouri. Linda went to and graduated from Osborn High School. And was a member of the Osborn Baptist Church. While going to school, Linda worked as a nurse’s aide in several doctors’ offices.
Linda graduated with an RN degree from Penn Valley School of Nursing in 1974. She then went to work at Trinity Lutheran Hospital assisting with open heart surgeries. Where she decided that was the area she wished to practice in.
Linda then went to Houston, Texas for schooling in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab). Once graduating, she went to work at Baptist Memorial Hospital using those skills. Linda worked her way to supervisor in the days of pagers and payphones. She became so proficient that Menorah Hospital hired her to open and run their Cardiac Cath Lab for several years. In her later years she ran a surgery center in Gladstone, Missouri.
Linda received the Nursing Achievement Award 1995 from Independence Regional and her BSN Degree in nursing from Webster U May 1999.
Linda met Gale Markley and they were married on October 9,1980. Their union gained her three instant children that delighted her and her parents. They thought instant grandchildren were a gift just for them.
Gale joined Linda as a member of Raytown Christian Church where Linda was already a member. Linda was devout in her beliefs and very connected to her church. Linda taught Sunday School, served as a Deacon, sang in the choir and went to parish nursing school. Linda coordinated a team of nurses at RCC who took blood pressure Sunday mornings between services and helped answer health questions. Linda helped her husband Gale with delivering Meals on Wheels.
While Sunday School President, Linda proposed and helped start the process to send Rev. Gray and Joy Hays to Stevens Ministry training. Linda and Gale joined in the first Stephens Ministry class at RCC and served for several years. Linda was proud that the Stevens ministry still exists at RCC today.
Linda is preceded by her parents Robert and Neysa McDonough of Osborn, Missouri and stepson Paul Markley. Linda is survived by her husband Gale Markley, her stepdaughters Julie Tresnak of Gladstone and Gayla Dorsey of Kansas City.
Linda was almost never without a dog in her life - poodles were her favorite. A loving person who was always busy creating gifts, baby blankets or whatever was needed for friends and family alike. Linda was the person who took care of others and getting Dementia in her later years robbed her of doing the things she loved most. She will be missed.
A Visitation for Linda will be held Friday, September 29, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with a Celebration of Life with Honors performed by the Nurse's Guard of Kansas City to follow at 11:00 AM, at Raytown Christian Church 6108 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, Missouri 64133.
