Letitia Shelton

She passed away on November 1st, 2022 at the age of 88. Letitia was born on November 3rd, 1933 in Wagon Mound, New Mexico to Enrique Martinez and Adelina Aguilar. She was the 12th of 13 children. After the tragic loss of her mother at the early age of five, she went to live with her older sibling, Cleofes Lujan. This is how she came to be raised in Cheyenne WY and where she eventually came to meet her husband of 43 years, Lloyd Eugene Shelton before his passing in 1992.

Originally from Kansas City, Lloyd convinced Letitia to move to back to Kansas City, after they eloped in Kimball, Nebraska at the age of 16. This is where the pair raised their four children. She spent several years in the hospitality industry where she met and served many people and made lifelong friends.

Letitia is proceeded in death by her parents and 11 siblings.

She is survived by her four children, Lloyd Michael (Leann) Shelton, of Gladstone, MO; Patricia Annanette Shelton, of Pleasant Valley, MO; Debra Jean (Thomas) Scott, of Kansas City; John Kennedy Shelton, of Landcaster, OH. Four grandchildren, Nathaniel Blake Scott, Ashlea Brooke Scott (Jonathan Golden), Catherine Ann Crowe (Abraham Crowe), David Wayne Shelton, one biological great grandchild, Gia Kristina Scott, and two bonus great grandchildren, Garrett and Chevelle Golden, and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Letitia will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with a Loving Remembrance beginning at 11:00 AM. A Graveside Service will immediately follow all at White Chapel Funeral Home and Cemetery, 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, Missouri 64119. The family would like to thank all the nurse staff and doctors at Liberty Hospital who made her final days comfortable.
