Blair was born January 12, 1958, to parents Vernon and Mora (Nicholson) MacDonald.
Blair grew up in Birch Grove and as a young man loved to fish and hunt. His nickname was Fox. After graduation, he began to work for the NS Department of Transportation where he worked until his retirement in 2022. In school, he met the love of his life, Leslie Boutilier and they were married for 43 years.
Blair was a straightforward guy who was happiest at home. There he could pick up the phone and call his family and friends to check in regularly. The conversations were often short, but he was consistent and there was no doubt that he was calling to show he cared.
He enjoyed watching baseball and hockey cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays and the Chicago Blackhawks.
He is survived by his wife Leslie, sisters Nancy (Blair) Hopkins and Heather (the late Donald) Giovannetti and brother in law John McDonald; sisters-in-law Regie, Dolena, Cheryl, and Jackie, brother-in-law Billy, special niece Cynthia Hart, along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
He is predeceased by his parents Vernon and Mora MacDonald, sister Carol McDonald, sisters in law Glenda, Elaine, and Kay; brothers in law Gordie, John T, Stevie and Kenny.
As we say goodbye to Blair, we take comfort in the memories we shared with him. We remember his smirk, his laugh and his unwavering love for his family. We will miss him dearly, but we know that he is now reunited with his Ma, Da and sister Carol and watching over us from above.
Cremation has taken place. A visitation will take place at 11 am on Saturday November 16, 2024, at Patten Funeral Home with a service immediately following at 12 pm celebrating Blair’s life with Rev.
