It is with sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the death of our mother and grandmother, Mary Boone who passed away at Seaview Manor, Glace Bay on Monday, April 4,2011.
Born in Newfoundland to the late Michael and Mary Louise (Snow) King, she lived all her life in Birch Grove. Mary was a lifetime member of MacKay Memorial United Church and was an active member of the UCW. She was also a member of the True Blue Lodge. Throughout her life she maintained committed to her community, donating her time and talents to numerous organizations, charity events and social functions. Her greatest joys in life were walking, visits with friends and family, picking berries, Monday Night Bingo Club and Saturday night bingo and playing the organ. Mary was well known for her molasses cookies, homemade dinner rolls and her wild strawberry jam.
Besides her parents Mary was predeceased by her husband, Verne,daughter Gail,brothers; Bob, Al,Bill and sisters; Dorothy,Julia and Hazel. Left to mourn are her daughters, Ferne, son, Roy (Elinor), grandson Shea (Sherry), granddaughter , Sarah (Kevin),special great granddaughter, Alli, sister, Laura and brothers, Edward and Elmer, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
Visitation for Mary Boone will be held at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union Street, Glace Bay on Thursday , April 7,2011 from 7-9 pm with funeral service to be held Friday at 11:00 am in Patten Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Matheson officiating. A reception will follow for family and friends in the Birch Grove Recreation Center. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.
