Jean Roach

The family of Jean Roach is saddened to announce the passing of Jean, peacefully at Glace Bay Hospital on August 4,2016.

Jean is survived by her husband Glen (Glace Bay) ; sister Kathryn Dixon (Truro) and several Nieces and Nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents John J and Kathryn MacLean (MacDonald) Glace Bay and a brother Boyd (Glace Bay) and a sister Ramona Moore (Truro).

Jean was a lifelong resident of Glace Bay. She was employed as a teacher and school principal at various schools in the area including Caledonia, Robert Orr Memorial (Tower Road) and Donkin Morien District High. Jean was a long time member of Knox United Church in Glace Bay. She had a passion for bridge and shared weekly bridge sessions with her friends. Jean also loved to travel especially bus tours with Glen throughout the US and Canada. Many summers were spent happily with Glen at their cottage on the Brickyard Road in Mira.

Visitation will take place on Monday August 8,2016 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm in Patten Funeral Home 71 Union St Glace Bay. Funeral will be held in Knox United Church Glace Bay at 2pm on Tuesday August 9,2016 with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. Interment will take place in Greenwood cemetery immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers charitable donations on memorials maybe made to Knox United Church Glace Bay, the Glace Bay General Hospital Foundation or a charity of ones choice.
