Mr. Heartsill was born in Greenville and has been a longtime resident of Greenville, AL. He was a retired mechanic and was an avid hunter. He enjoyed life and being with people. He lived life to the fullest. He loved his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: father, Joe Hiram Heartsill and his mother, Rebie Griggers Heartsill, a brother, Nathan Hiram Heartsill, two sisters, Mary Ann Mitchell and Doris Coker.
He is survived by his wife, Melvia Jean Cumbie Heartsill; son, Travis (Janet) Heartsill; daughter, Valerie Heartsill McLain; a brother, Donnie Heartsill; a sister, Judy Boswell; a granddaughter, Harper Lea Heartsill Simmons (Cameron); a great granddaughter, Emberlea Kamryn Simmons; two step grandchildren, Anne Blake Langford and Matthew Langford (Anne Claire); a stepson, Matt Langford (Ashley); a special son-in-law, Tony McLain. A special thank you to Danny Bond, Butler County Sheriff.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 1:00 P.M. until the celebration of Billy Joe's life which will begin at 2:00 P.M. at Johnson Funeral Home in Georgiana. Matthew Langford will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Pall Bearers will be Chuck Cain, Jeff Cain, Joey Wells, Gray Vinson, Darren Bryan, Stephen Croley
