The world has lost the kindest man. Paul was 85 years young.
His parents were Paul and Carlotta Barry. Paul was raised in Blair, Nebraska and graduated from The University of Nebraska Pharmacy School in 1953. He belonged to Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and Rho Chi Professional Fraternity. He served in the US Army with overseas duty in Europe in a combat dispensary for Special Forces.
Paul met and married the love of his life, Ann Weaver, and they spent nearly sixty years together before Ann's death March 2, 2015. Paul and Ann moved to Texas in 1957 when Paul accepted a job offer from Skillern's Drug Company. His career as a pharmacist spanned 42 years with the last 32 years at Albertson's. He was a mentor to many. Paul and Ann raised three children together in Dallas, Texas where they were founding members of St. Rita Catholic Church.
They moved to Sun City, Texas in 2003. Paul loved his community and dear neighborhood.
Paul could grow anything. He had the greenest thumb. He was so proud of his yard, his flowers, and his vegetables. He was a founding member of the Sun City Horticulture Club. The club is a tight knit group and Paul loved his friends, the gardens, and the camaraderie there.
Paul and Ann were world travelers. They traveled all over the globe. They loved sharing their pictures and stories.
Paul loved animals, his coffee, and reading the newspaper front to back.
He was involved in scouting and a merit badge counselor. Paul was so proud of his sons who both earned the Eagle rank.
Paul was a devout Catholic and an advocate for the Catholic faith. He was a quiet man who always put others first. He was a member of Santa Rosa Catholic Church in Andice, Texas and he was a Eucharistic minister there.
Our dad was kind and thoughtful to all. He treasured his family and friends. He will be missed by so many.
We want to thank our dad for the love and care he gave our mom throughout her
life, especially the last years of her life.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Ann. He is survived by son, Mike and daughter-in-law, Lisa; daughter, Michelle; son, Tom and daughter-in-law, Ann; grandson, Austin; and granddaughter, Katy.
A visitation will be held at 6:00 pm, Thursday, December 15 with a rosary following at 7pm at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. A funeral mass will be held Friday morning at 9:30 am at Santa Rosa Catholic Church in Andice, Texas with interment at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas. A reception will follow in the church hall after the interment.
